Brothers and proud Mak Mak Marranunggu men J-MILLA and Yung Milla will co-headline the first Darwin edition of Live Nation’s Ones to Watch this August. The pair will share headline duties with Māori singer-songwriter and longtime NT resident Juran. The showcase is happening at Darwin’s Bustard Town on Thursday 8 August.

J-MILLA and Yung Milla will unite under the name Same Blood at this year’s BIGSOUND. Their Ones to Watch performances will centre on their respective solo repertoires. J-MILLA released the single “Boomerang” in early July, combining traditional Indigenous music and language with trap production and flow. Yung Milla’s latest, “Shine,” came out in May, bearing the influence of Afrobeats and dancehall. Juran’s latest, the slow-moving power ballad “Merry Go Round,” came out in May.

It’s the busiest time of the year in Darwin, with the annual Darwin Festival kicking off on 8 August. The National Indigenous Music Awards are happening on Saturday 10 August.
