Lim Orion channels Japanese folklore and 90s alt-rock on Futon, the third single released from forthcoming album Ilk.

The hefty power chords in the chorus might resemble something off Silverchair’s Neon Ballroom, but Futon is no garden variety bit of grunge nostalgia. The track is beautified with quirky time signatures, layers of hypnotic backing vocals, and a mischievously rendered act of revenge.

“Futon is a rebellion against the feeling of being overlooked,” Lim said in a statement. “Based on the notion of Yokai in Japanese folklore, in this song I am a mischievous spirit inhabiting your neglected futon.”

Futon follows previous singles Story and Colosseum. Watch the official music video, directed by Rob Heppell, below.

Ilk is out on Friday 2 October via Dragonfruit Records. Pre-order it here. Lim Orion’s debut LP, Cosmic Salt, came out in 2021.
