Donald Glover’s Childish Gambino project has reawakened. After uploading the album Atavista to streaming services earlier today, Glover has confirmed a sprawling international tour. The New World Tour will reach New Zealand at the end of January 2025 before crossing the Tasman for shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in early February.
Atavista is an updated version of Childish Gambino’s previous album, 3.15.20, which came out in March 2020 but was removed from streaming services last week. During an Instagram livestream in April, Glover said there’s one more Childish Gambino album to come, which he described as “a soundtrack for the fans.” He later revealed it would be the soundtrack to a movie titled Bando Stone & The New World.
Gambino last visited Australia in July 2020, appearing at Splendour in the Grass and Spin Off and playing headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Atlanta via Accra artist Amaarae will support Gambino on the 2025 Australian tour.
