Dirty Three’s first album in 12 years, Love Changes Everything, will arrive on Friday 14 June. The trio of Warren Ellis, Jim White and Mick Turner have released the album’s second single, “Love Changes Everything II.” As the title indicates, all six tracks on the album bear the name “Love Changes Everything” followed by the relevant Roman numeral.
The new single arrives a few weeks ahead of Dirty Three’s long-awaited Australian tour. They’ll visit all states and territories except for the NT during the second half of June, returning to many locations for the first time since the tour behind 2012’s Toward the Low Sun. Love Changes Everything was a long time coming, but the band’s formula hasn’t changed much since they made foundational records such as 1994’s Dirty Three and 1996’s Horse Stories.
“Recorded in five days, mixed in a year,” Ellis, the band’s violinist and de facto frontperson, said in a statement. “Older and meaner, sadder and totally dangerous. Dirty Three are 32 years old. Come blow out the candles and help us stick a knife in the cake.”
