Geelong/Djilang’s finest Magic Dirt brought a dose of heavy rock and heavier attitude to morning television when they stopped by Recovery in 1998. The band, led by vocalist and guitarist Adalita Srsen, performed “Rabbit with Fangs” and “She-Riff,” the two lead singles from their second album, Young & Full of the Devil.
Although it peaked at the modest position of 100 in the ARIA albums chart, the impact of Young & Full of the Devil was sufficient to land Magic Dirt a deal with the Warner Music-owned East West Records. With the major label behind them, Adalita and co. crossed over to the mainstream with their next few LPs, 2000’s What Are Rock Stars Doing Today, 2003’s Tough Love and 2005’s Snow White.
Young & Full of the Devil was reissued on vinyl in 2023 and the band visited Melbourne’s Triple R 102.7 FM to perform the album in full.
