Triple j has confirmed the date of its first One Night Stand in half a decade. The regional festival will return on Saturday 14 September – exactly five years after the most recent One Night Stand, which took place in Lucindale, South Australia.

The event location and lineup are to be confirmed, but the station has revealed they received 2087 submissions from hopeful regional towns. They’re suggesting the 2024 event will be the biggest to date.

One Night Stand 2024 will be a one-day, all-ages, alcohol-free music festival, and a fundraiser for Australian music industry charity Support Act. Triple j is also working with the federal government’s Music Australia body to provide development opportunities for artists and industry figures in regional communities.

In a statement, ABC managing director David Anderson said the partnership with Support Act and Music Australia will allow the broadcaster to “increase much needed investment in the Australian music industry, while staying true to One Night Stand’s core mission of delivering a one-of-a-kind event, accessible to the public, based in regional Australia.”

One Night Stand launched in Natimuk, Victoria, in 2004 with Grinspoon, The Dissociatives, Koolism, Eskimo Joe and local act Less Than Perfection on the lineup. The 2019 event featured performances from Hilltop Hoods, Meg Mac, Ocean Alley, G Flip, and more.
