Unsound Adelaide, an offshoot of Kraków’s Unsound Festival, is back for its tenth instalment this weekend.
The program includes live performances from Velvet Underground legend John Cale, UK experimental rock trio Moin, percussive and adventurous electronic duo Nídia & Valentina, plus DJ sets from Raime, Strict Face, DJ PGZ, Nídia and more. The Unsound program is spread across three venues – Lion Arts Factory, Hindley Street Music Hall and Ancient World – on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 July.
Nídia & Valentina are playing the opening set at Lion Art Factory on Friday 11 July. They’ll be followed by the dancefloor experimentation of siblings Chuquimamani-Condori (aka Elysia Crampton) and Joshua Chuquimia Crampton, performing together as Los Thuthanaka.
London-based rave, techno and deconstructed club producer and vocalist aya is also on the bill, and so are droning psychedelic duo Yellow Swans, who recently returned to live performance after a 15 year break.
Cale and Moin will perform at Hindley Street Music Hall on Saturday 12 July. Opening the show is German electronic musician Wolfgang Voigt, who’s presenting the psychedelics-influenced techno loops he makes under the moniker GAS.
A club party will follow the main performances on both nights. The Friday night party is at Lion Arts Factory and the closing party is at Ancient World. Find the set times below.
