Spasta, an afternoon and evening of dance music, live acts and Greek culture, is back this Saturday 28 June. It’s one of the biggest Spastas yet, setting up three stages at Collingwood Children’s Farm.
Spasta is the brainchild of Naarm-based DJ and good vibes distributor Adriana. In partnership with events and touring company Finding Figaro, Adriana hosts two or three Spastas a year at various outdoor venues in Naarm. Adriana is one of the headliners for Spasta at the Farm, playing the closing set on the Alogo stage from 9-11 pm.
Preceding Adriana on the Alogo stage is New York-based DJ and co-founder of The Lot Radio, DJ Lloyd, who’ll be spinning house music and soulful sounds from 7-9pm. Jarv!s and Maxima will go back to back on the Alogo stage from 3-5pm, before Myles Mac (of Melbourne Deepcast fame) goes back to back with his regular collaborator DJ Possum.
Newcomer Sammy Sanchez will get Spasta started on the Rezili stage at 3pm, before a one-hour live set from psych-jazz and instrumental disco quartet Intermood.
Mazzacles, a resident DJ at Sydney’s Club 77, will play house, funk and disco from 5.30-7. Also making the trip down from Gadigal country are Balearic boogie duo D.D. Mirage, who’ll play live from 7-8pm.
PBS FM’s Milo Eastwood (known, among other things, for his impressive punt from the stage of this year’s Community Cup) will play the penultimate set on the Rezili stage from 8-9.30. Local house music legend DJ JNETT will bring it home from 9.30-11.
The event’s third stage, Kafeneío, is a pop-up Greek café. There’ll be live Greek music from the Rebetika Trio, Greek DJ sets from Cong Josie (aka NO ZU’s Nicolaas Oogjes) and DJ Moi (of Skylab Radio’s Fasaria), as well as free Greek coffee courtesy of MELVOURNI, Greek biscuits from Yiayia’s Glyka, and plenty of space to sit, chat and play tavli.
