Skegss recently downsized to a duo and they’ve now released the first single of their new era. “Spaceman” is the work of vocalist and guitarist Ben Reed and drummer Jonny Lani, who parted ways with bass player Toby Cregan last April.
Lani and Reed will be hitting the road later this month for a lengthy stint of regional shows. They’ll be supported by Carla Geneve and Good Sniff. Find all the tour details below.
Reed said “Spaceman” dates back to the pandemic lockdowns. “It’s had a couple of versions,” he said, “but happy we kept trying new things with this one and where we got it to.”
It’s the band’s first new music since the twin singles “Stranger Days” and “December” came out in 2022. Skegss’ most recent album, 2021’s Rehearsal, debuted at the top of the ARIA albums chart. Its lead single, “Valhalla,” reached #55 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2021.
