US producer Metro Boomin and Nigerian Afrorave pioneer Rema will headline Gold Coast’s Promiseland music festival over the first weekend of October. The lineup also includes alt-R&B stars Miguel and Jorja Smith, boom bap hero Busta Rhymes, and Nigerian sensations Asake, Tiwa Savage, Ruger, Shallipopi and Omah Lay.
The news will come as a relief for fans of Metro Boomin, who pulled out of last year’s Listen Out festival tour due to personal reasons. Metro Boomin was also on the lineup for Melbourne’s ill-fated Now & Again festival, which didn’t eventuate.
Promiseland has recruited plenty of Australian acts for the three-day event, including Vv Pete, Day1, Hooligan Hefs, Youngn Lipz, Kaiit, Adrian Dzuke, Pania, B Wise, Soli, and more. There’ll be a strong South African amapiano presence at the festival, with the likes of Major League DJz, Kamo Mphela, Tyler ICU and Uncle Waffles on board. Jamaican artists Beenie Man and Shenseea are also on the bill.
This is year three for Promiseland and the event organisers are calling it their biggest lineup to date. It’s happening at Doug Jennings Park from October 4-6. Find the complete lineup below.
