Sour Worm’s Jasper van Daatselaar shot, directed and starred in the video for their new single, “People Change,” which is premiering today on Check Check. “People Change” is the latest single from the Melbourne/Naarm musician’s forthcoming album, Let Me See The Light, due out on Friday 19 July.
The song has a mantra-like quality, with van Daatselaar locking into a downstroke rhythm as they remind us change is inevitable and the best recourse is to accept the fluidity. “The song is about learning to accept that people change, and you do, too,” van Daatselaar said.
The DIY video was filmed in van Daatselaar’s emptied out sharehouse bedroom. “I really like the idea of shooting a whole video by yourself,” they said. “I was thinking of ideas really slowly for months but kept putting off shooting it, and one day I just decided it was the day. I emptied my whole bedroom into the hall, duck taped a gopro to my upside down bed frame, and started filming.”
