Indie music representatives from the US, UK, Singapore, Germany and elsewhere are lined up to speak at this year’s Indie-Con Australia. The annual independent music conference is happening at Adelaide’s Mercury Cinema From Wednesday 31 July to Friday 2 August. The complete conference program and speaker lineup has been announced, following last month’s AIR Awards nominee announcement.

The conference program includes panel discussions on topics such as record labels’ social and cultural impact, the risks and opportunities associated with AI, the current state of festivals and touring, and how to navigate one’s online presence. Several artists will be speaking at the event, including Georgia Mooney, Josh Pyke, Holy Holy’s Oscar Dawson, Void of Vision’s Jack Bergin, Bachelor Girl’s Tania Doko and members of PNAU and Big Scary.

Efficient Space’s Michael Kucyk will lead the Indie Labels Spotlight session, speaking to the founders and managers of Dinosaur City Records, Blossom Rot Records, Clarity Records, Anti-Dismal and Pak Records. The session Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers: An Album Case Study will zero in on the titular band’s debut album, I Love You, which is nominated for the AIR Award for Best Independent Rock Album or EP.

Alicia Sbrugnera and Leah Harris from Spotify will deliver a keynote speech titled Spotify Fresh Finds, and YouTube’s Marion Goodman-Briand will present a keynote centred on the video streaming giant’s relationship with independent musicians.

Lisa Hresko from the American Association of Independent Music is also set to speak at the event, and so is Partisan Records’ Ellie Rumbold, Jim Romeo from US company Ground Control Touring, and plenty more. Find the complete program here and learn more about the individual speakers here.
