Theatre Royal will host the main stage for When Pigs Fly Castlemaine 2025
Detroit deep house DJ and producer Marcellus Pittman tops the lineup for the first edition of When Pigs Fly Castlemaine, happening this Saturday 5 April on Djaara Country in west central Victoria.
When Pigs Fly began as a New Year’s Eve festival at Collingwood Children’s Farm in Melbourne/Naarm a couple of years ago. After a sold-out 2024/25 festival, the organisers announced their first regional event at Theatre Royal and Love Shack Brewing in Castlemaine, 120 km north-west of Collingwood.
It’s a dance music-heavy lineup with the odd pinch of live music. Along with Pittman, who’ll play the final set at Theatre Royal from 8.30-10pm, there’s Naarm club and festival mainstay DJ JNETT, PBS FM host Ella Stoeckli, indie pop band Cool Sounds, Melbourne-based Afro-synth duo Wrong Way Up, and Naarm-born Syrian/Lebanese techno and breaks DJ Luqman.
There’ll also be live sets from cinematic composer Sinj Clarke and the jazz and avant-garde influenced Poli-Pearl, who’s also a member of Special Feelings. Long-standing DJ duo 6AM at the Garage – which features WPF founders Benny Rausa and Liam Alexander – will bring the festival to a close on the Love Shack stage from 11pm-1am.
