Cold Chisel will be back on the road later this year to mark 50 years since their formation. The tour, which is set to visit all capital cities and select regional locations through October and November, includes the band’s first shows in more than four years.
Frontperson Jimmy Barnes, who’s recently been headlining the Red Hot Summer Tour as a solo artist, expressed excitement for Chisel’s 50th anniversary. “Some of the best moments of my life have been spent on stage with those boys,” Barnes said, “and I hope we keep going ‘til the day we drop.”
Chisel will perform in various indoor and outdoor venues in the Gold Coast, Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne, Brisbane, Newcastle and Hobart. They’ll also headline the Red Hot Summer Tour in Armidale, Perth and Ballarat, alongside The Cruel Sea, Birds of Tokyo, The Superjesus and Karen Lee Andrews. The tour wraps up at the VAILO Adelaide 500 Post Race Concert on Sunday 17 November.
Cold Chisel formed in Adelaide in 1973 and relocated to Armidale in 1974-75 so that keyboardist and songwriter Don Walker could finish university. The current lineup includes Barnes, Walker, founding guitarist Ian Moss and bass player Phil Small, who joined in 1975. Drummer Charley Drayton entered in 2011 following the death of Steve Prestwich.
