RISING

RISING is on from Wed 4 to Sun 15 June in the Melbourne CBD

RISING is Melbourne/Naarm’s winter festival. This year’s program includes Portishead’s Beth Gibbons, English electronic and post-punk outfit Mount Kimbie, singer-songwriter Jessica Pratt, indie pop romantic Japanese Breakfast, actor-come-indie pop musician Suki Waterhouse, folk and alt-country songwriter Marlon Williams, indie rocker Soccer Mommy and plenty more.

Find the complete music program for RISING 2025 here.

We’ve got double passes to give away to several shows, including Day Tripper, RISING’s festival-within-a-festival that features DIIV, Bktherula, Mount Kimbie DJs, Tikiman and Richard Akingbehin, Chapter Music’s End Of An Era and plenty more, and First Frequency, a Blackfulla dance party at Melbourne Town Hall led by RONA. and DJ PGZ.

Yasiin Bey – who performed two shows for RISING 2024 – will be back in town for Black Star‘s Naarm debut, Bey’s pioneering 90s hip hop project with Talib Kweli. We’ve got a double pass to see them at PICA.

Songwriters Ned Collette, Leah Senior and Michael Beach are behind the New Rampant Optimism Roadshow, a revue style concert with guest appearances from US indie rock legend Thalia Zedek, Dirty Three’s Mick Turner, and Chris Abrahams of The Necks. That’s happening at the Athenaeum Theatre and there’s a double pass to give away.
